A brief interruption of the QuestionPoint service will be necessary to install some bug fixes. The service will be unavailable for approximately 15 minutes, beginning at 6 AM UTC (2 AM Eastern Daylight Time, 4PM Australia Capital Territory) on 28 September 2010.
We regret the inconvenience.
1) Queue "closer":
The September 19th install introduced the ability for chatting librarians to deselect their Primary Queue (and other monitored Queues), thereby allowing them to be "off-line" to new patrons, while still being able to complete chat sessions with existing patrons. This would effectively close the Queue to any new patrons if the chatting librarian who deselected was the last or only librarian online monitoring for that library.
Post-install, a bug was discovered that caused any Qwidget sessions in progress to automatically disconnect 2 minutes after the Queue was closed, regardless of whether or not the patron and the librarian were actively communicating. This automatic closure only affected Qwidget sessions. Regular chat sessions were not interrupted.
This bug will be fixed with tonight’s install. Here is how Qwidget sessions will be treated going forward. Any waiting Qwidget session that has been picked up by a librarian, before or after a queue is closed, will continue until intentionally ended by the librarian or patron.
If no librarian picks up the waiting patron within two minutes after the queue has been closed, that patron session will automatically disconnect, and the patron will be presented with the Qwidget "closed" screen.
2) "All" tab in Librarian Chat monitor.
The ability for Admins and Ask Admins to see and participate in chat sessions from their Primary Queue patrons was inadvertently removed in the last install. This will be restored tonight.
3)Hot-linked URL from within Policy Pages.
The last install removed the address bar from the Policy Pages, in order to help avoid accidental sending the URL of the Policy Page itself to patrons. The Policy Pages are an internal resource and should never be sent to the patrons. However, when links are clicked from with the Policy Pages, the librarians need to be able to quickly copy and paste those referenced URLs to the patrons. Therefore, in this install the address bar has been restored. We request that librarians continue to carefully monitor themselves to be sure not to send Policy Page URLs themselves to the patrons, but only the referenced URLS from within the Policy Pages.
4) Referring URL from Patron Chat form
The ability to see and retrieve reports on referring URL from patron Chat forms has been restored, if in fact there is a referring URL. In cases where patrons have saved the Chat form as a bookmark or typed it directly into the address bar, the referring URL will be noted as "null".
