The Enquire service (public libraries in the UK) joined the 24/7 Reference Cooperative in June 2008, and librarians from the US and UK began handling questions for each others' users from both sides of the pond. If you missed the training session for US librarians on best practices for handling sessions with UK patrons, the recording of that training session is now available for download and viewing at: http://questionpoint.org/education/index.html (see session on "Best Practices: UK Patrons, under "Meetings").
In order to see the recording, the WebEx Network Recording Player needs to be installed. It is a part of the WebEx software package for attending a QuestionPoint meeting or training so it should launch automatically for you.
If it doesn't or you haven't attended a meeting or training that uses WebEx, you'll want to download and install the player. Please visit http://www.webex.com/downloadplayer.html and click on the link on the right side of the page for Windows 2000+ it will be in the section titled:
Play network-based recording (arf) files
Download the WebEx Player for Advanced Recording Format (.arf) files.
Use it to play recordings in the ARF format on your WebEx service site (network-based recordings).
In addition, you can find useful websites that will assist in answering UK patron requests at: http://wiki.questionpoint.org/UK+Sites
In the autumn of 2008, we will have a session for UK librarians on Best Practices: US Patrons, which will also be recorded and posted. Stay tuned for more details!
